Inside the chapel at Niagara Hospice there are angels everywhere...book covers, knickknacks, photos, pictures, anything and everything angels. On one wall is a large portrait of two angels, looking as if the larger one is welcoming a smaller one to heaven.
dedicated to the staff at Niagara Hospice, Lockport NY
Sitting in a room of angels
Waiting for God to take her home
She lies with memories untangled
Knowing she does not rest alone
As time passes it becomes clear
That will ever eternal be
Peace and comfort and love and light
Ready to set her tired soul free
So, as the angels surround me
As I try to suppress my grief
I hear their wings flutter about
Trying to ease my unbelief
Of <frail> breaths soon taken away
Of <strained> heartbeats fading fast
Of wordless <novenas> I could say
As the present becomes the past
So, see me angels, in this room
Reminding me of what’s ahead
The silence of the empty tomb
When Jesus wasn’t among the dead
I know she will soon be gone
Ascended to Your loving care
Yet, angels, put your wings around me
When her absence is everywhere.
